Budget retailer Wilko on brink of collapse with 12,000 jobs at risk
High Street retailer Wilko has confirmed that there are “no immediate store closures planned” following their announcement that they had filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
The chain has over 400 stores and 12,000 members of staff across the UK who have now been put at risk.
A notice of intention to appoint administrators does not necessarily mean that Wilko will go into insolvency, but it gives it time to attempt to shore up its’ finances, such as by finding a buyer.
Both Made.com and clothing shop Joules went into administration last year, but both were rescued in deals with high street retailer Next.

Emily’s Charity Hair Chop for Little Princess Trust
Emily Brearley will be cutting her waist length hair into a bob for charity.
She did this previously in 2019 and raised £400 for the The Little Princess Trust who create real hair wigs and provide them free of charge to children with cancer and other conditions which cause hair loss.

Hacker jailed for selling Ed Sheeran songs on dark web ordered to pay back £100k
Adrian Kwiatkowski, a hacker who stole two unreleased songs from Ed Sheeran and sold them on the dark web for cryptocurrency has been ordered to pay £101,053. About half of the money he has to pay is currently held in Bitcoin.
He was charged with copyright infringement and possessing criminal property and was jailed for 18 months.
If the payment is failed to be made within three months, he will face a further 18 months imprisonment.

Introducing the Wrigley Clayduck, which made its first appearance at the Saddleworth Duck Race.
Proceeds from the event went to various charitable causes organised by the Rotary Clubs of Saddleworth.
The Wrigley Clayduck was designed by Sharmin Begum and Zahra Ali, and was presented at the event by Emily Lamb.

Schumacher family planning legal action over AI ‘interview’ with F1 great
It has been reported that the family of Michael Schumacher is planning legal action against Die Aktuelle, a weekly German gossip magazine for presenting an artificial intelligence-generated article as “the first” interview with the seven-time Formula 1 world champion since his 2013 skiing accident where he suffered a brain injury.
The magazine led with a photo of Schumacher on the front cover with the headline “the first interview” and the accompanying strapline “it sounds deceptively real”, implying that quotes were given by Schumacher when in fact it transpired, that they were produced by AI.
Schumacher’s family have been fiercely protective of Schumacher’s privacy following the accident.

Easter Knitted Chick Appeal: Louise Davies raised £300 in aid of Francis House
A huge thank you to everyone who supported Louise Davies‘ campaign for Francis House, including Apex Computing Services and XLOS stationary supplies.
Louise who is PA to Senior Partner, Vijay Srivastava knitted Easter Goodies which were sold for charity.
Last year Louise raised £195.00 for the same campaign, and exceeded that amount this year by £105.00.

Zahra’s Cake Sale for Turkey and Syria
On February 6th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Southern Turkey and Northern Syria, followed by multiple secondary earthquakes. This devastated millions of lives and led to more than 50,000 deaths. In response to the disaster, people worldwide showed their support by raising money to be donated for aid and relief.
Family Paralegal, Zahra Ali, stepped up with her baking skills to raise money and help victims affected by the earthquake.
“As millions in Turkey and Syria have been affected by the devastating earthquakes and are in need of urgent help, I decided to do a charity bake sale to raise funds to donate.
I am pleased to say I have raised £700 all of which will be donated to UNICEF’s Earthquake appeal for Turkey and Syria. UNICEF are dedicated to providing those affected by this tragic event with food, clean water, and blankets as well as ensuring children’s wellbeing and education by rebuilding schools and community centres”.

It’s okay to talk – Andy’s Man Club
Andy’s Man Club aims to eliminate the negative stigma surrounding mental health and create an open and supportive environment where men can talk about their feelings and the struggles that they may be facing. They facilitate weekly peer support groups for men over 18 every Monday (expect Bank Holidays) at 7pm all around the country.
Their name comes from a young man named Andy Roberts, who sadly took his own life in 2006 aged only 23. His family were unaware of the mental struggles that he was facing at the time so were unable to help him. They, therefore, have set out to help prevent other families from going through what they did. In 2006 Andy’s mother, Elaine Roberts, and his brother-in law, Luke Ambler, came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB to give men over 18 the space to talk freely about mental health in a non-judgmental environment, since then they have expanded tremendously and currently cover almost 100 locations nationwide including Manchester, Oldham, and Rochdale.
