{"id":18869,"date":"2022-06-27T19:51:11","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T19:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wrigleyclaydon.com\/?p=18869"},"modified":"2022-06-27T19:53:48","modified_gmt":"2022-06-27T19:53:48","slug":"apple-faces-768m-collective-action-for-throttling-iphones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wrigleyclaydon.com\/?p=18869","title":{"rendered":"Apple faces \u00a3768m collective action for &#8216;throttling&#8217; iPhones"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Consumer rights campaigner, Justin Gutmann has filed a claim against Apple in the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London on behalf of up to 25 million UK iPhone users who used any of 10 different models of iPhone, from the iPhone 6 through to the iPhone X (and including the iPhone SE).<\/p>\n<p>He is accusing the Apple of abusing its market dominance to engage in exploitative and unfair commercial practices when it misled iPhone users by applying a power management software update, first released in January 2017 in iOS 10.2.1, that throttled the performance of affected devices. It had the effect of slowing the processor\u2019s speed at peak performance<\/p>\n<p>He is seeking damages worth a total of \u00a3768 million.
