{"id":17531,"date":"2019-08-11T13:54:27","date_gmt":"2019-08-11T13:54:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wrigleyclaydon.com\/?p=17531"},"modified":"2019-08-15T13:59:14","modified_gmt":"2019-08-15T13:59:14","slug":"mamadou-sakho-sues-wada-for-13m-over-drug-test-error","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wrigleyclaydon.com\/?p=17531","title":{"rendered":"Mamadou Sakho sues WADA for \u00a313m over drug test error"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho is suing the\u00a0World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for \u00a313m after accusing them of a drug test-error that ended his career at Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>Sakho\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/sakho-available-again-after-drug-ban-reprieve\">was provisionally banned for 30 days on April 28 2016<\/a>\u00a0after being notified by European football\u2019s governing body, UEFA, of an anti-doping offence relating to a test taken after March\u2019s Europa League quarter-final against Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>UEFA launched their own investigation at the time into whether the fat-burning substance, Higenamine, Sakho took should even be on the banned list.<\/p>\n<p>The ban meant <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/tag\/mamadou-sakho\">Sakho<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>missed\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/tag\/liverpool\">Liverpool<\/a>\u2019s<\/strong> Europa League final defeat to Sevilla, while Sakho claimed at a High Court hearing that it cost him a place in the France squad for Euro 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Higenamine, was found not to be on WADA\u2019s\u00a0prohibited list and Sakho was subsequently cleared by UEFA.<\/p>\n<p>Sakho\u2019s argues that a move away from Liverpool had a big impact on his salary and that it represented a loss of \u00a313m in earnings.<\/p>\n<p>However, WADA denies responsibility for his transfer from Liverpool, arguing that \u201cdisciplinary issues\u201d and a \u201cpersonality clash\u201d with the manager Jurgen Klopp were the root causes.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the hearing, the judge ordered that the trial on liability \u2013 whether Wada was negligent \u2013 should take place before the amount of compensation is considered.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suffering a dispute can have serious implications on you and your livelihood and reputation.
